Shoes make the man?

Maybe they do or maybe they are an indicator of style, wealth and fastidiousness.

However, watch out guys as ladies most definitely notice a man’s shoes. I don’t know why it’s important to women, maybe it has some relationship to the obsessive love and interest they have in their own shoes as many a bankrupted husband may have found to his cost.

Here are two English classic shoe and two American classic shoe manufacturers that will definitely impress the ladies.

English classic shoes

Loake

The Loake family has been producing fine, handmade men’s footwear for as long as anyone can remember.

The tradition began in 1880, when three brothers – Thomas, John and William – opened a factory in Northamptonshire in the heart of the English shoemaking industry. The aim was to provide the most handsome, comfortable and durable gentlemen’s shoes possible.

Five generations and more than 125 years later, they remain just as passionate about the quality and craftsmanship that makes Loake footwear among the best in the world. The company is well known for its classic Oxford shoes and Brogue shoes which can often be seen racing around the City on the feet of London businessmen.

Lobb’s

“The most beautiful shop in the world . . .” – that is how Esquire magazine described the wood-paneled splendour of the London premises of John Lobb, Bootmaker. Located in the lovely St James’s selling handmade shoes and storing hundreds of handmade ‘lasts’ of the rich and famous in their basement. They have sold to kings, maharajahs, actors, singers, politicians, business moguls and literati among many others. A true classic if you can afford them.

American classic shoes

Cole Haan

In 1928 Trafton Cole and Eddie Haan designed the first Cole Haan shoe in Chicago. Today Cole Haan is said to be America’s premier style and luxury brand with exciting new collections of high-quality men’s shoes launching each year.
A dynamic luxury brand, Cole Haan defines the ultimate in artisan quality and detail … chic, on-trend fashion … ‘downtown’ style that is unique and eclectic … and beautiful products that people love to own.

Florsheim

In 1892, Milton Florsheim began producing shoes in a small factory again located in Chicago, Illinois. The first pairs of Florsheim shoes made by Milton and his father, Sigmund, were a remarkable combination of style, comfort and high quality workmanship.
Florsheim has since grown from a small factory into a brand and organization that is valued and respected all over the world. Today, Florsheim continues to revolutionize designs and technology to meet the demands of every customer whilst also retaining classics like the loafer/moccasin style.
