The power of the media on clothing apparel and accessories is dominating the fashion sector at the moment. From movies to music, famous names are now being portrayed on girls shoes. At a young age, children are aware of brands and big names. Take High School Musical for example – this is a film that has been transformed into a power house brand. Everything from books to bags now features the popular High School Musical imagery, meaning children are buying into the idea of “must have” items at a very early age. Aimed at a very young audience, the fans of these cartoons don’t just want one official item; they want the whole set. There is also a lot of peer pressure on young children these days, as school children compete with each other to see who owns more of a certain brand, like High School Musical. Then the children come home and pester their parents for the items they don’t have. It is costly, but as any parent will tell you, having the latest items is essential for any child these days, so that they can “fit in”. More and more parents are wanting the best for their children and for many, money is no option when it comes to making sure their child has everything from the latest girls shoes to the latest branded to use at school.
