Shoes can look good on the outside but what about the inside? With Rockport shoes, the difference is inside because they have been constantly improving on their footwear to come up with the perfect shoe that they believe was never invented. Rockport was the first company to create lightweight comfort by using the most advanced athletic technologies in casual shoes and the first to engineer walking comfort in dress and casual shoes.

Rockport’s innovations in technology include DMX, Walk Dry, XCS and the Vibram Sole. DMX technology are seen as the slight bulges that are massage-like in quality featuring cushions of moving air in the sole of the shoe, while the Walk Dry technology provides water-resistant surfaces and are easy to wipe clean of any dirt and assorted stains.

The Vibram Sole, on the other hand, is considered to be the most durable in all shoe markets and nearly inflexible which does not affect the comfort that Rockport brings, providing maximum shock absorption and cushioning, while the XCS or Extreme Conditions System provides the anti-scratch and waterproofing on the outside of the shoe thereby delivering high performance in outdoor conditions.

Rockport shoes was founded in 1971 by the father and son tandem Saul and Bruce Katz in Marlborough, Massachusetts. They dreamed of making a shoe that has the combination of lightweight materials, comfort and subtle stylings. Having this in mind, they decided that these were the characteristics that Rockport should have in the next decade.

And they succeeded. For Rockport shoes are proven to have done the impossible and unthinkable for it has been not only been worn by runners in marathons but by climbers reaching the top of Mt. Kilamanjaro. Not only that, it has been hailed as the official boat shoe for the Whitbread “Round the World” Race. Rockport shoes are thus considered to be one of the most comfortable shoes in the market today. Manufactured in the form of Rockport sandals, Rockport oxfords shoes, Rockport lace-up shoes, Rockport loafers shoes, Rockport slip-on shoes and Rockport boots, they are available for men, women and children and are sold in over 30 countries worldwide. The most famous of which are the Pro Walker series, a hard-bottomed walking shoe considered to be one of the earliest in the Rockport line.

In 1984, Rockport was purchased by Reebok and then later on both footwear makers were bought out by shoe giant Adidas. Rockport is based in Reebok’s Headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts.
